So, people should just ignore large-scale attempts to rip them off, and instead blame everything on themselves?

Let’s say someone buys a home out of their league. They’re barely able to hold on to it, but then the bank engages in a borderline move to foreclose. The “99%” might put all the blame on the bank. The “53%” would put all the blame on the homeowner, letting the bank get away with large-scale borderline activity. Both groups would be wrong and would be supporting bad policy.

This effort also ignores the fact that not everyone has what it takes to be an entrepreneur. Most people need to work for someone else; that’s just reality.

The “53%” are not only not fully in touch with reality, they’re implying that the millions of unemployed are simply unemployed due to their own personal failings. They’re implying that the millions of unemployed are simply lazy welfare cheats. Instead of pulling together and helping free up jobs (such as by working for more immigration enforcement), all the “53%” can do is demonize their own fellow citizens who are struggling through tough economic times.

P.S. On an ironic note, the *parents* of many of those protesting probably pay more in taxes than some “53%” leaders. Or, at least they would if not for all the loopholes that those in the “53%” leadership sphere have carved out for them.
